Versioning

The JSA strictly follows semantic versioning assuming that the usage of the API is adhered to.

  • Patch: Bug fixes and other small tweaks
  • Minor: New features. We guarantee no breaking changes, methods and classes may be deprecated and warnings may be logged but the functionality will remain until the next major version.
  • Major: Breaking changes. Functions and classes may be deleted or renamed, the structure of the API may be changed entirely.

In addition to this we guarantee backwards and forward compatibility with regard to the messaging layer. This means that you should not need to upgrade the version of the API with new SketchUp versions (unless you wish to get access to new functionality).

  • We reserve the right to rename classes as we see fit. It is therefore not recommended to use instanceof checks in your code, but instead use the .type property available on each entity and entity ref.

Methods may be marked as deprecated as part of minor updates to the API. These are guaranteed to be supported until the next major API version.
